Judge’s and attendees selected outstanding Best of The MIX games at last week’s E3 week MIX event.
First up, judge’s picks – chosen by Ars Technica’s Sam Machkovech and Simon Cox from Rolling Stone’s newly established Glixel:
Judge’s Top Prize: Chambara
Chambara is a stealth-deathmatch game in a high-contrast world. Players seamlessly camouflage themselves with the environment to sneak, search, and ambush each other in dramatic, stylish duels.
Best of MIX judge Sam said “Chambara’s monochromatic aesthetic fuels some incredible play, matched with quick maneuvers and lovely map design. Congrats on a great couch shooter game!”
Prize sponsor tinyBuild provided an excellent Alienware Steam Box to the Judge’s top pick!
Judge’s Runner Up: The Final Station
In The Final Station, the world is over. But it’s not quite over for you… at least, not yet. And now that you’ve got thousands of tonnes of locomotive at your disposal, ready to take you as far down the tracks as you have fuel to feed it, you’ve got the definite advantage over the infected hordes. The real question is whether or not you’ll bring survivors on-board with you, or leave them out there to fend for themselves. Sometimes people can be more trouble than they’re worth.
Audience Top Pick: Disc Jam
Ballots submitted by guests at the event awarded the top Audience Pick to Disc Jam, a fast-paced action-sports game that pits 2-4 players against each other in a unique combination of air hockey and tennis. Players scramble to retrieve and throw a glowing disc while unleashing devastating abilities and defending variable-point end zones. An exciting blend of strategy and skill, this arcade-inspired title boasts a zany roster of characters to compete with friends both on the couch and online.

Audience Runner Up: Tooth and Tail
Tooth and Tail is an Arcade-Style Real-Time Strategy game set in a world of animal revolution. Wage war with customizable factions, featuring units like mustard-gas skunks and flamethrowing boars. From the creators of the IGF-winning game Monaco, Tooth and Tail distills the Real Time Strategy genre down to a few buttons and eight-minute matches.
Additional Best of MIX prizes provided by Astro Gaming and Casual Connect’s Indie Prize.
Congratulations to all!
